Have you Perceived the Sound of Rain?

Houston, USA
2025.02 - 2025.04

Buffalo Bayou goes through the whole of Houston City from west to guff recognized the history of Houston from a small southern-America porter to the fourth biggest city in America. The general flat typography of Houston and extreme weather conditions essentially highlight the significance of Buffalo Bayou as the flooding corridor to prevent the city ponding and reduce the damage during the hurricane season.

The site is on the south bank of Buffalo Bayou, between the urban and natural areas. In response to the site conditions, the project takes the bayou and rainwater as one of the design forces, benefits from the bank slop and height difference, and half of the building sinks into the earth to invite the water into the building. On the other hand, based on the unique position, the building evokes the threshold role in horizontal and vertical directions, tightly warping up the artificial and natural into an organic whole.
